Find out what Stephanie and a few friends had to say as they
responded to a three-question mini interview:
Stephanie

1) Honestly, it's anywhere that Rufus
Wainwright is. Ideally it would be somewhere
pretty, with good shopping close by, like Milan,
Paris, or West Hollywood. He's a
once-in-a-generation genius and I know that if
fate hadn't conspired to keep us apart, we'd
already be close friends.

2) When I was about eight or so I read Ethel
Waters' biography, "His Eye Is On The Sparrow."
Her description of growing up poor and black
made a big impression on a kid from OC. My
mother was appalled when she found it and
realized I'd been reading it, but I'd already
finished so it was too late to do anything about
it.

3) "Dude." What can I say? I grew up in
Southern California and I have a lot of friends
from Huntington Beach.
James

1) The Pyramids in Eygpt. Climb them of
course. Done that with the ones in Mexico
so it's time.

2)
Venus on the Half Shell. It was actually
crappy space opera with closed door sex...
but it had one of those lurid covers. I was
probably in third grade and my teach took it
away from me because it was "trash." My
mom came to the school and told her to
MYOB because how dare she interfere with
a third grader reading at college level?

3) "Just."
Matthew

1) Let me be perfectly, painfully honest. I sat
here, studying this question from every angle,
trying to come up with an interesting,
impressive answer. But, in my heart of hearts,
in my soul, my answer is: I want to go to Nick
Carter's house, and I want to wander slowly
from room to room, staring and learning and
whispering, "Oh my god," in an awed,
overwhelmed, this-is-better-than-sex voice.

2) Oh, wow. I've read way too many books for
this to be an easy question to answer. Maybe
"The Giving Tree," because the first few times
I read it (as a small child in my grandmother's
living room), it was hard for me to wrap my
mind around the actions and message.
Generosity and
selfless generosity can be
miles apart. (This, of course, is based on
vague recollections, and since I haven't read
that book in decades, I could be wrong.)

3) I don't trust myself as a good judge of my
own vocabulary, so I just asked someone else,
and was informed that I say "oddly" and
"random" far too often. That irritates me,
because ever since my misspent youth, I've
detested overuse of the word "random." We
become that which we mock.
TA

1) Ireland. I want to take a horseback riding
tour of the country. I think that would an
interesting way to see the island.

2) Mercedes Lackey's "Magic's Pawn." It was
the first time I'd read about a gay character.
:)

3) "Well." Not sure why I use it, but have just
gotten into the habit, I guess.
Questions

1) What place in the world is on the top of your list to visit, and
what do you want to do there?

2) What was the first book you remember that made a big
impression on you?

3) Most overused word in your personal vocabulary?
